Overview

The premium audit supervisor will be engaged in the training of new auditors as well as the retraining of the current auditors, as needed. Additionally, they will assist the department manager with monitoring, maintaining, and improving the production and quality of the members of the premium audit team. To do this, the team leader will run reports, review audits, encourage team members, and ensure compliance with state workers’ compensation manual rules. Many of the auditors’ questions will be directed to the team leader. The team leader will assist the team in decision-making and understanding the premium audit process. They will also be able and willing to complete any duties that are performed by the team members that they manage, which can include, but are not limited to, conducting audits, processing final audit transactions, resolving audit disputes, analyzing outside vendor audits, and reviewing and submitting audits that are selected for test audit.

Responsibilities

  • Train, coach, and motivate staff by setting performance objectives and goals for employees and manages employee performance and development, using a variety of in person and video application training methods.
  • Conduct in-service training of current team members.
  • Serve as a technical resource to the premium auditors and acts as a liaison with other departments, such as underwriting, accounting, and collections.
  • Reviews audits to ensure that they are completed accurately and in compliance with guidelines and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Monitoring the queues used in the premium audit department to ensure work is being completed in a timely manner.
  • Makes decisions regarding disputed audits, classifications, and application of rules while providing superior customer service to the policyholder throughout the audit process.
  • Conducting premium audits and processing final audit transactions. To do this, payroll records, tax filings, and other documents are requested from the customers and then analyzed. The premium auditor may then be required to call or email the customer to obtain business operations, employee job duties, and other information that could potentially affect premiums. Once the audit is complete, the premium auditor will process the audit by inputting the audited exposures into our database.
  • Work with the underwriting system/underwriting team to make policy related changes that are outcomes from an audit.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (finance, business, accounting) preferred
  • A minimum of Five-years Audit related work experience (Worker’s Compensation, General Liability, and/or Professional Insurance)
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
