Underwriting Associate

We are looking to hire the right candidate to become an Underwriting Associate in our Commercial Underwriting Unit. This position provides the opportunity to learn how to evaluate risks for Workers’ Compensation, Businessowners’, Commercial Auto, Professional Liability, and Umbrella policies for small businesses. This is a great opportunity to begin a career in the commercial insurance industry. The shift available is 9AM-5:30PM. 

This is a hybrid position requiring both in office and remote work in Wilkes Barre, PA or Omaha, NE.

• Utilize company underwriting criteria to evaluate risks for various lines of business
• Perform independent verification of insured's operations
• Review and process change requests on in-force policies
• Evaluate in-force policies at renewal
• Participate in Underwriting Training for new products, directives and processes
• Participate in projects as assigned

• Candidates should have investigative skills, be comfortable using the Internet as a research tool, and have excellent communication and customer service skills. You will work in a fast-paced team environment requiring solid time management skills and adaptability in a constantly changing environment, including changes to technology, underwriting guidelines, and regulatory conditions
• Bachelor’s degree, associate's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience are required
• Associate's Degrees acceptable when paired with a strong score on the Wonderlic Test, a cognitive abilities assessment used to meaure the cognitive ability and problem-solving aptitude of prospective employees (this will be sent to candidates after submission of their resume)
